The Motility Lab RN is an experienced RN and is accountable for the delivery of consistent, high quality patient care, providing operating efficiencies and insuring compliance with hospital and regulatory policies and standards of practice. This role is an essential patient care provider for our motility lab patients and is expected to be on site delivering care 3 days per week, Current schedule is Monday, Wednesday and Friday Principal duties and responsibilities: - Delivers care in the outpatient motility procedural rooms - Performs motility tests on patients - Facilitates the flow of the motility procedure rooms, including patient intake, procedure, and post-procedure clean up - Ensure the motility procedure rooms are kept up to standard with DPH and MGH requirements - Does all supply and equipment ordering for the motility procedure rooms - Works closely with scheduling teams to ensure an efficient use of rooms and resources - Provides an environment for effective patient-focused nursing care. - Responsible for taking direction from the MGH Motility Lab Nurse Manager and the MGH Motility Lab Medical Director - Responsible for implementing and evaluating approved policies, procedures and standards of care necessary for the coordination of the motility lab and delivery of excellent patient-focused care. - Collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other health care providers and assistive personnel to plan the delivery of care within the lab and on the unit as a whole to create joint protocols for patient care. - Promotes an environment that is sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of patients and employees. - Evaluates the outcomes of patient care; uses patient satisfaction information to recommend and integrate appropriate changes. - Actively participates on committees for ongoing development of the motility lab within GI associates knowing that some of these meetings may occur outside of normal business hours Qualifications SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED - Able to prioritize promptly to respond to sophisticated demands with a complex patient population. - Maintain clear communications with other members of the health care team. - Acts independently, but, more importantly, will function as a member of our health care team. The nurse should maintain a level of professionalism that communicates our philosophy of caring for all our patients and /or colleagues with respect as an integral process of our mission as we care for patients. - Quality Assurance: Skills to work efficiently and effectively and aim to do so in all aspects of position; Effective project management skills and attention to detail. - Discretion and Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and to ensure confidentiality guidelines are maintained by staff. - Safety/Compliance: Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position; Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies’ standards. - Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills and ability to organize time and priorities effectively, asking for direction when appropriate. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures. - Ability to handle resources effectively and to ensure accurate and compliant billing processes. Unit staff are nice for the most part

Cons

The ER boarder is a mess they placed me there when my contract stated med surg unit and was stuck there for 2 months. A lot of the staff and supervisor were rude in the boarder program at MGH a few good staff employees but a nightmare.
