A great opportunity to join our Respiratory Therapy New Graduate Residency Program at University of CO Hospital with UCHealth! Eligible applicants are new grads with no previous respiratory therapy experience
Location: UCHealth Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion, US:CO:Aurora
Department: Respiratory Care Main
FTE: Full Time, 0.9, 72.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Shift: Nights
Pay: $29.54 - $44.31 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Eligible applicants are new grads with no previous respiratory therapy experience.
Details regarding the new grad RT program:
- Eligible participants will go through a comprehensive interview and screening process.
- New Hires must receive their RRT certification and BLS and ACLS certifications prior to the start date..
- Each program participant will be required to actively participate in a hospital or department committee.
- Preceptors, mentors and STAR council members will assist in the development of a STAR portfolio for Level II status.
- At the completion of the program, residents will present an evidence-based presentation to the program Advisory Board Committee and Respiratory Care Leadership Team
- The first 12 months will include a consistent and content rich series of lectures and workshops.
Responsibilities of Respiratory Therapist position:
- Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
- Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment utilizing appropriate protocols.
- Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community resources.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
- Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Required Licensure/Certification: Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). State licensure if required by law.
- No previous RT work experience.
- BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
