    Description

    ChristianaCare, with Hospitals in Wilmington and Newark, DE, is one of the largest health care providers in the Mid-Atlantic Region. We have an excess of 1,100 beds between our two hospitals and are committed to delivering the best patient care in the region.  We are currently seeking 2 Wound Care Nurses, one full time flex - 36 hours a week, and another 20 hours a week.  During the 8 week orientation you will work out of both the Newark and Wilmington campuses.     The primary function of the WOCN is to serve as the clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems.  This role offers an opportunity for an expert RN to demonstrate their skill in an autonomous work environment where support is available and offered whenever requested. This full time flex role will work 72 hours each pay period, will require the successful candidate to work Monday through Friday 8-4:30 - 4 days one week and 5 days the other week of the pay period; weekends are not generally required though may be a necessity occasionally based upon business need; no holidays on call or overnight work.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

    • Serves as a consultant in the management of patients with wounds, fistulas, ostomies and/or incontinence issues with a focus on pressure injury prevention and management/treatment.
    • Facilitates the learning process for patients/families with wounds ostomies and/or incontinence by influencing changes in behavior, knowledge, attitudes and/or acquisition of psychomotor skills.
    • Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to deliver care appropriate to infant, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
    • Provides informative programs to staff for the purpose of developing skills, and knowledge related to patients/families with wounds, ostomies, fistulas, and/or incontinence, with a focus on pressure injury prevention and management/treatment.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: We seek a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required and MSN preferred. You will possess 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience, leadership is preferred. WOCN certification is preferred; or completion of certification required withing 2 years of starting.
