Summary:
This job is responsible for supervising the daily operational and personnel activities of the assigned work group of the Pharmacy Department. Oversight requires appropriate level of expertise to oversee the work group according to professional standards and practices.
Responsibilities:
* Performs all responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician III including, but not limited to, compounding (sterile, non-sterile and formula), labeling and packaging medications
* Supervise the daily operations of the pharmacy technicians; participate in the selection, training, orientation and assignment of staff, assist in the development of standards of performance, evaluate employee performance and conduct disciplinary counseling when appropriate; process weekly timesheets; and initiate or make recommendations for personnel actions.
* Participate in the implementation and evaluation of new processes and/or equipment.
* Conducts staff huddles and meetings routinely; coordinates in-service education activities for technical staff.
* Ensure appropriate staffing, during call-ins, inclement weather or periods of increased workload.
* Respond to and resolve customer service issues brought forth by other departments or units as they relate to Pharmacy Services.
* Participate in performance improvement activities; assist in maintaining a continuous level of readiness for inspection by external groups.
* Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Work Schedule: Flexibility required to accommodate administrative responsibilities.
This posting is for the Night Shift Technician Team Leader. Work hours will be between 1100 am to 230 am. Including weekends as required to support operational need.
WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 2 years job related experience Req
EDUCATION
* High school diploma or equivalent Req
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Pref
* Sterile Products Certification Req
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Current Texas registration as a Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Req
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements 90 Days Req
* Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician training program (civilian or military) or equivalent Upon Hire Pref
* Chemotherapy Certification Upon Hire Pref
* PTCB Technician Certification Upon Hire Pref

* Supervisor of a team; spends at least 50% of the time providing people leadership to a team
* Typical span of control: Administrative 12-15, Clinical 12-15, Support Services 15-17; e.g. Admin: Fin, IT, Legal, HR, Public Affairs; Support Services: EVS, Security, Engineering, Food Services;
* Plans and executes day to day operational needs
* Provides guidance, coaching, and feedback
* Provides input to employment decisions, and participates in performance reviews
* Works within established precedents and practices; receives guidance and oversight from a higher-level manager
* Monitors key day to day operational metrics
* Provides technical guidance to others on a frequent basis and rounds with employees in the team
* Demonstrates an understanding of Children's resource availability
