Description
Job Title & Specialty Area: Respiratory Care Practitioner Critical care
Department: CT Surgery
Location: Dallas Medical Center
Shift: Day shifts with rotation On call- 5 days week-8 hours a day- 06:45 am to 15:15 pm
Job Type: On-site
JOB DUTIES:
- Independently mange conventional and high frequency ventilators
- Operating rooms, IR, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, CT, ICU during surgical procedures
- Assist during transports by providing manual ventilation
- Intubate/Extubate lower acuity patients
- Scrub/Assist Cardiac Anesthesia during Sterile Line Placement (central, arterial line, swan ganz etc)
- Place IVs/Arterial lines on lower acuity patients
- Perform POCT and report verbally report critical values to surgeons/anesthesiologists/perfusionists
- Manage home ventilators and non-invasive ventilation in pre/post unit
- Assist cardiac anesthesia during urgent/emergent consultations in the ICUs
- Assist cardiac anesthesia with cases at UTSW-Clements and Parkland
- Setup all cardiac anesthesia cases, including IV sets, rapid blood infuser sets etc
- Manage Difficult airway devices when applicable
WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 2 years job related experience especially working in CVICU Pref
EDUCATION
* Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Req
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* BLS & PALS from American Herat Association Req
* NRP Req
* RRT recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and active Texas RCP license Req
* RRT-NPS recognized by the NBRC (preferred for CT OR) 1 1/2 Yrs Req
* BLS instructor for patient educators providing caregiver CPR Pref
