Summary:
Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Central Sterile Processing Department.
Responsibilities:
* Direct and monitor the daily activities of the sterile processing department to ensure departmental functions are completed efficiently and effectively.
* Maintain knowledge of and provide information and guidance related to departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
* Select, train and orient sterile processing technicians; develop standards of performance, evaluate staff performance, and initiate or make recommendations for personnel actions
* Prepare employee schedule and monitor employee attendance and make changes to meet staffing needs.
* Review and maintain accurate equipment cleaning, sterilization and maintenance records.
* Have technical knowledge of surgical instrumentation, medical equipment, and be able to problem solve when issues arise with each.
* Promote efficient use of materials and financial resources
* Participate in data collection opportunities for quality improvement activities
* Function in the capacity of a sterile processing technician when there are shortages in staffing
* Maintains a relationship based on good communication with each customer the sterile processing technician serves.

WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 3 years Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician Req
* At least 5 years Certified Operating Room Technologist Pref
EDUCATION
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician Req
JOB PROFILE
* Supervisor of a team; spends at least 50% of the time providing people leadership to a team
* Typical span of control: Administrative 12-15, Clinical 12-15, Support Services 15-17; e.g. Admin: Fin, IT, Legal, HR, Public Affairs; Support Services: EVS, Security, Engineering, Food Services;
* Plans and executes day to day operational needs
* Provides guidance, coaching, and feedback
* Provides input to employment decisions, and participates in performance reviews
* Works within established precedents and practices; receives guidance and oversight from a higher-level manager
* Monitors key day to day operational metrics
* Provides technical guidance to others on a frequent basis and rounds with employees in the team
* Demonstrates an understanding of Children's resource availability
