Summary:
Assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid by performing high quality imaging involving patient treatment. Administers and records radiation dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol. Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager.
Responsibilities:
* Perform imaging procedures and produce high quality diagnostic imaging; demonstrate/maintain consistent knowledge of sterile technique maintenance of sterile environment. Provides on-call and callback coverage as required. Completes procedure/billing and coding documentation of all activities according to established criteria. Adhere to department/hospital policies, procedures and processes, quality improvement, safety, patient flow and other issues.
* Communicate and collaborate with other Radiology staff and staff in other departments to facilitate optimum patient care. Maintains and requisitions medical and surgical supplies for patient care. Participate/cooperate with all other department/hospital processes/activities as appropriate.
* Participate in training programs to develop additional skills and/or to enhance existing skills; obtain/maintain appropriate license and certification. Participate in patient/student education as appropriate. Lead and motivate staff in area assigned.
* Assist the interventional radiologist using sterile medical devices and supplies, medical radiological positioning aids, radiographic locators and medical x-ray image archiving system software. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision.
WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 1 year job related experience Req
* Radiography or Bachelor of Science in Radiography Pref
EDUCATION
* Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Radiology Req
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Bachelor of Science in Radiography Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) Req
* American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) Pref
* Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license Req
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Req
