Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Team Lead and Pharmacist, this job is responsible for preparing unit dose medications, compounds non-sterile preparations, and delivering medication to patient care units.
Responsibilities:
* Prepares drug products for checking and dispensing by a pharmacist; preparation includes selecting and preparing unit dose medication, compounding, repackaging, and drawing up patient-specific doses.
* Prepares non-sterile admixtures, including hazardous medications.
* Maintain professional/ethical standards by complying with laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice, using sound professional judgment, exhibiting reliability and credibility.
* Demonstrate empathy for patients and maintaining confidentiality.
* Complete required training and competencies required.
* Answer department telephones and assist the pharmacist with responding to inquiries.
* Perform computer entry for missing doses, patient charges and credits, and other documentation.
* Deliver or restock medications; deliver pharmacist code box; assist in maintaining overall cleanliness and organization of work areas and maintaining a continuous level of readiness for inspection by external groups.
* Perform other duties and special projects as required.
This is a Full Time, Dayshift position.
Essential:
* Associates Degree
* Bachelors Degree
* Minor Achieved in Subject
* Vocational Certificate
* High School
Essential:
* Registered Pharmacy Technician
* Intravenous Certification
WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 2 years pharmacy-related experience Preferred
EDUCATION
* High school diploma or equivalent Required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Registration Upon Hire Required
* 20 hour ACPE accredited IV training course, except in First Pharmacy, Preferred
* Maintenance of CPhT Upon Hire Preferred
