EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Graduate of a School of Respiratory Therapy recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner
RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist
NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider within 90 Days of hire
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider within 60 Days of hire
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
Two years experience in an acute care hospital with extensive experience in Adult Intensive Care, and/or Neonatal Intensive Care.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Excellent working knowledge of scope of respiratory care responsibilities as well as Respiratory Care Department Policies and Procedures.
Good working knowledge of Respiratory Care Act, Title-22 Regulations, Joint Commission guidelines, and general hospital administration practices and procedures required.
Knowledge of consumer rights, work harassment issues, report mechanisms for abuse and neglect, domestic, child, elder.
Demonstrates excellent respiratory patient assessment skills and understands appropriate clinical pathway.
Exhibits thorough understanding of pharmaceuticals administered by respiratory care.
Thoroughly understands range and methods of oxygen delivery to all patient populations
Demonstrates advanced understanding of theory and operation of all mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy monitors used at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital.
Must have excellent communication skills, able to converse effectively with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, consumers, and supervisors.
Must assist the department manager, on a dedicated basis, with at least two on-going department tasks, i.e. scheduling, performance improvement, statistics, billing, materials management.
Must have excellent trouble-shooting skills using observations and deductive reasoning to identify respiratory equipment failure.
Must possess excellent respiratory assessment skills including: physical assessment, pertinent patient history, interpretation of appropriate lab findings (i.e. pulmonary function studies, arterial blood gases), physical limitations, and contributing environmental factors.
May be an active participant in infant transport service independent of respiratory care supervision.

Pay Range is $49.12 to $61.08 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
