Description
As an integral part of the Imaging Services Team, the 3D Radiology Technologist provides support for the radiologists by performing highly specialized 3D analyses in the 3D division. Provides related work as required.
Essential Duties:
- Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for their designated area.
- Work with radiologists and physicians to process medical imaging data (CT, MRI, etc.) and convert it into 3D models used in clinical practice and surgical planning.
- Demonstrates correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills.
- Segment anatomical structures from imaging data and generate accurate 3D models using Synapse 3D (Fuji), Syngo.via (Siemens), Vitrea (Toshiba) and Mimics Innovation Suite (Materialise).
- Create 3D visualizations for virtual and augmented reality platforms to assist in preoperative planning and medical education.
- Reviews examination for proper positioning, technique and identification as per approved protocols.
- Confirms patient identification by verifying name and birthdate.
- Assist in the evaluation of new technologies and materials to improve the accuracy and efficiency of 3D modeling processes.
- Recognizes emergency situations, indicate code and properly administer aid as needed.
- Performs visual inspections, selects appropriate equipment and applies immobilization devices as required.
- Perform quantitative analyses including but not limited to linear and angular measurements, Hounsfield measurements, volumetrics, etc.
- Records pertinent patient information and completes all paperwork as required and assists in maintaining files.
- Performs billing functions timely and accurately.
- Prepares examination for interpretation by radiologist. Scans supporting documentation into PACS.
- Keeps scan rooms/work stations neat, orderly, and prepared and assures exam room is stocked with appropriate supplies.
- Assists with ordering and stocking of department supplies and equipment.
- Willingly performs other related duties outside immediate work area as assigned or required (i.e., scheduling, Q.C. follow-up, transport, clerical).
- Exhibits organizational skills and utilizes time efficiently.

- Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation with other departments, medical staff and fellow employees.
- Acts as a mentor to and is a source of information for less experienced Radiology Technologist.
- Acts as an ambassador of good will when interacting with all staff members and other departments.
- Uses the chain of command appropriately to communicate any concerns with the department, co-workers or medical staff.
- Responsible for work schedule hours if any changes were made. Demonstrates computer science knowledge and principles related to any other modalities (CT, MRI or Angio) and films according to approved protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req High School or equivalent
- Req Specialized/technical training Graduate of an approved Radiology/MRI Technology school/Program
- Req 3-5 years Experience in medical imaging ( CT/MRI)
- Req Previous experience with segment anatomical structures from imaging data and generate accurate 3D models using Synapse 3D (Fuji), Syngo.via (Siemens), Vitrea (Toshiba) and Mimics Innovation Suite (Materialise).
- Req Previous experience creating 3D visualizations for virtual and augmented reality platforms to assist in preoperative planning and medical education.
- Req Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
- Req Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Req Demonstrates knowledge of principles of CT/MRI physics and computer science related to CT/MRI scanning.
- Req Demonstrates complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH)
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Registered Technologist - R.T. (ARRT)
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
