Description
To develop and implement occupational therapy services and direct patient care in coordination with the interdisciplinary team and in compliance with organizational goals and appropriate regulatory agencies. Under the supervision of the Chief of Occupational Therapy, provides occupational therapy care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses. Major duties include patient evaluation and treatment planning for effective patient outcomes, problem resolution, patient care documentation, attendance at patient care related meetings, the delegation of duties to support personnel, participation as a member of a team, maintenance of an appropriate level of productivity, participation in performance improvement activities.
Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer of KCMG, Nevada division, the Occupational Therapist will develop and implement occupational therapy services and direct patient care in coordination with the interdisciplinary team and in compliance with organizational goals and appropriate regulatory agencies. Provides occupational therapy services to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients utilizing the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework with a focus on diabetes prevention and management. Major duties include conducting occupational therapy evaluations and treatment planning to support chronic condition management, timely and effective patient care documentation, attendance at patient care related meetings, the delegation of duties to support personnel, participation as a member of a team, maintenance of productivity expectations, and participation in performance improvement activities.
Essential Duties:
- Upon referral of a patient to occupational therapy services, the occupational therapist assesses and evaluates patient’s utilizing the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework.
- Plans, coordinates, and implements appropriate occupational therapy services.
- Monitors progress and reviews with other interdisciplinary team members and relevant medical personnel.
- Effectively manages a full patient caseload, which includes all aspects (i.e. patient care, documentation and communication, and assists in meeting departmental efficiency requirements).
- Documents patient treatment and progress in accordance with third party payer guidelines and departmental policy.
- Consults with referring providers regarding evaluation, treatment and progress of patients and makes recommendations for care follow up.
- Organizes unscheduled non –productive time (i.e. Patient not available, outpatient cancellation, etc.), able to improve department efficiency (ie. Assists other staff, projects, other documentation), while still maintaining a full caseload.
- Maintains compliance with established University and department policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control and complies with requirements of regulatory agencies.
- Participates in knowledge dissemination with peers, staff, interdisciplinary colleagues, and general public.
- Participates in quality assurance programming and continuously evaluates services to ensure highest standards of patient care are maintained.
- Participates in in-service education programs and professional associations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req Specialized/technical training Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Req Bachelor’s Degree
- Req 0-1 year Lifestyle Redesign; health promotion and disease prevention; diabetes management; chronic condition management; behavioral health
- Req Must demonstrate knowledge of current practice in the field of Occupational Therapy.
- Req Effective verbal and written communication skills, and mature and sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Master’s degree
- Pref Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate
- Pref Bilingual; Spanish preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Occupational Therapist - OT (CA BOT) If no certification upon hire, one must be obtained within 90 days of hire. *A Limited Permit status from CBOT is required for no loner than 90 days post-hire.
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
- Req Occupational Therapist - OT Current Nevada license to practice Occupational Therapy required. Temporary licenses may be used until a standard license is obtained. Standard license must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. *If work state is Nevada, exempt from California License requirement.
