JOB SUMMARY Working in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Rehabilitation assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and collaborates with other departments to ensure excellence in patient and family care reflective of CCH mission, vision and values. The Director of Rehab is responsible for the planning, direction, organization and leadership in the delivery of services in the department and throughout the healthcare continuum. The Director of Rehab practices within the framework of the Wyoming State Board of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy Rules and Regulations, the respective professional association professional standards and National Patient Safety Goals. Directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department. Sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other therapies. Develops and implements policies and procedures pertaining to staffing and the budget for the department. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Monitors treatment and progress of patients. May require an advanced degree. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Oversees and participates in the physical, occupational, or speech therapy processes to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met. • Shares in the responsibility of department staffing and monitors delivery of patient care. • Collaborates in development of departmental goals and objectives. • Participates in development of departmental policies and procedures and monitors compliance with standards of clinical practice. • Assists with the hiring, training and evaluation of employees. • Assists in the development of department budget and maintains fiscal compliance. • Evaluates new procedures and equipment for the department. • Assists in the planning and implementation of the department in-service and education training. • Develops and administrates the CQI process. • Collaborates with physicians and other health care members in communicating sharing services available and developing services to meet community needs as needed. • Models and fosters a positive team approach, demonstrating excellent customer service and positive interpersonal relations with all team members. • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures. • • Other duties as assigned. This list is non-exhaustive. JOB QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education, Training, Experience: • Education: Graduate of an approved physical, occupational, or speech therapy school. • Licensure: Must be licensed in, or be eligible to be licensed, in the State of Wyoming. • Experience: Graduate from an accredited physical, occupational, or speech therapy program. • Certifications required: See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy. 2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR) to maintain professional license. • Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline. • Excellent interpersonal skills needed to work with staff, physicians, patients, and families. Able to communicate positively under stress. Able to prioritize multiple details simultaneously and requires function under high stress. • Able to work independently and accurately without close supervision. • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions and under stressful conditions. • Analytical and reasoning skills with a high level of mental concentration and memory. • Computer Knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic record. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position. • The ability to demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages and apply developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the appropriate age of the patient. Ability to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge and skills. • Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in the following age groups: o Infant (Neonate to Age 1) o Pediatric (Age 1-11) o Adolescent (12-18) o Adult (19-64) o Geriatric (Age 65 and older) 3.
