# Beds 28 Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:5 goal can flex to 1:6 dependent on staffing Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS Common diagnosis / Types of patients "High Demand, High Acuity unit Pulmonary Unit- Cystic Fibrosis (only on this floor and 24T), pneumonia, liver patient overflow, Sickle Cell-(high demand and high aquity- pain management q1h pain meds), geriatrics-with active sickness, high fall risk, high demand, family dynamics MedSurg patients with high needs and high demands" Experience or 'Must have' skills "MUST have strong IV start skills Must be able to hit the ground running Strong MedSurg background- Must have 2 years Medsurg/Tele experience Must have positive attitude" Are RN's required to titrate drips yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips "heparin, amiodarone, blood transfusions. Per manager can send travelers without this experience, they have the resources to help them Blood transfusions" Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? "MUST be able to read and interpret tele- will take a Relias EKG exam prior to orientation start Monitor techs on a different unit" Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge nurse available on all shifts- will always have a smaller patient assignment Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios Goal is to have 3 every shift usually only have 2 RT/Equipment (i.e., Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, vents, etc.) Nasal cannula, CPAP and BiPAP home regimen, occasional trachs-experience would be nice but not required Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "12 hours clock in at 6:38, clock out at 7:15 Manager does the schedule" Weekend Requirements every other weekend Holiday Requirements "Will fit in to core staffs rotation- ask to be flexible will fill in where the need is Per facility policy UNABLE to accept PTO 12/10 through the first week in January" Is there Call or a Standby requirement? no Floating Requirements? "Travelers are first to float Will float to other MedSurg acuity areas" Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided? Teal Unit/Department Specific Orientation 2 days Additional Notes Great team work on the unit RN's need to be open to Floating! Busy/Large Level 1 Trauma Candidates need to be flexible on scheduling EOW EPIC Required Successful placements here have 3+ years exp, pervious travel exp. and have worked in a very busy hospital in the past.Employer
