General Job Duties ----------------------------------------- 1-2 ICU patients assigned to each nurse. Must have knowledge of hemodynamic IV medication up to and including Vasopressin, Levophed, Epinepherine, Phenylepherine, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Amiodarone. Required Qualifications ----------------------------------------- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate of a Nursing Diploma program. BSN is preferred. Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years of recent (past 6 months) ICU/Critical Care experience Basic EKG competency One year PCU experience Cardiac Medicine Certified and/or Cardiac Surgery Certification (for CVICU) - preferred Licenses: Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license. Certifications: BLS (AHA) - required ACLS (AHA) - required TNCC – preferred CCRN - preferred Special Position Information ----------------------------------------- Bed Size: 20 bed ICU- all private rooms Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:2 Equipment: Meditech EMR, Pyxis used for medications, Bedside bronchoscopy, CRRT, IABP, Aquapheresis. Shifts: Employee will not be required to work alone. No call in the ICU. Every other weekend and weekends as needed. Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs. No tattoos visible. All visible piercings must have clear studs or be covered. Training/Orientation: Contract RN's will receive a short hospital/nursing orientation to KRMC. During this time they will receive all of their login information to hospital systems. They will receive 1.5-2 shifts in the department with a seasoned core staff RN as their orientation. Orientation checklist will be completed during this time and submitted to the manager. Exposure Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues Work Requirements: Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills. Able to manage technical business equipment i.e. phone, fax, computer etc. Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300 lbs. Able to care for patients with infectious diseases. Able to sit for 3-5 hours per day; Able to stand for 3-5 hours per day; Able to walk for 3-5 hours/day. All care is provided with kindness and compassion. Quality of Care and Nursing Process: a. The nurse provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions. b. The nurse practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials. c. The nurse complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions. Assessment: The nurse collects patient health data a. Nursing assessments are completed according to hospital and unit specific policies, procedures, and standards of nursing care. b. Collect pertinent data from the patient, significant others, and health care providers. c. A comprehensive patient history and physical is completed in a timely manner and includes: biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age specific, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Diagnosis / Care Needs: The nurse analyzes the assessment data to identify care needs. a. Nursing diagnoses / care needs are derived from the assessment data. b. Involving the patient and significant other as appropriate, the nurse formulates a plan to provide appropriate care based on identified patient needs. Implementation: The patient’s nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs and patient care standards, and is consistent with the therapies of other disciplines. a. Nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs. b. Nursing care is based on standards of patient care. c. Nursing care is prioritized based on assessment of patient’s immediate condition or needs. d. The patient and / or significant other(s) is involved in the patient’s care as appropriate. e.
