Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director. This role involves coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.

Essential Duties

  • Education:
    • Identify and meet personal learning needs.
    • Participate in education programs.
    • Assess patient/family readiness to learn and developmental levels.
  • Evaluation of Care:
    • Identify expected patient outcomes and revise care plans as needed.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate patient care.
  • Implementation:
    • Provide care for patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
    • Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
    • Organize and prioritize care based on patient/family needs.
  • Leadership:
    • Develop professional growth goals.
    • Participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
    • Promote cost-effective care and provide feedback to co-workers.
  • Patient Assessment:
    • Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities.
    • Assess and anticipate discharge needs of patients and families.
  • Planning:
    • Collaborate with patients/families to prepare or update care plans.
    • Address cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.
  • Research:
    • Stay informed by reading relevant journals and articles.
