Job Description

Under general supervision, the Respiratory Care Practitioner will provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department for all appropriate age levels in various areas served by the department.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Administer therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff.
  • Record treatment information and patient responses in computerized medical records.
  • Act as a resource for medical staff.
  • Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients.
  • Provide age-appropriate care to patients.
  • Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
  • Maintain necessary respiratory therapy records.
  • Participate as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience

  • No experience required.
  • Preferred: Two (2) years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment.
  • Clinical decision-making skills related to patient care in pulmonary and cardiac systems.
  • Ability to interpret information to identify patient needs.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff.
  • Some computer skills required.
