Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Radiologic Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients and may also conduct general diagnostic radiology examinations.
Essential Functions
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
- Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations.
- Prepare procedure rooms and replenish necessary supplies.
- Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform CT scans.
- Manually control equipment to obtain diagnostic information.
- Administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for reactions.
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment and assist Radiologists in complex procedures.
- Ensure radiation protection principles are followed.
- Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologists before performing studies.
- Maintain documentation in medical records and radiology information systems.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- May work in a hospital setting or in an ambulatory mobile unit.
- Potential exposure to radiation and high-voltage equipment.
- May encounter potentially contagious patients.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move equipment and patients over 10 lbs.
