Job Description

The Wound and Ostomy Registered Nurse is responsible for establishing satisfactory interpersonal relationships with co-workers, patients, families, and significant others. Key responsibilities include:

Collaboration

• Initiating communication with patients and families to assess individual needs.
• Collaborating with co-workers and colleagues across disciplines to share ideas and information.
• Providing detailed patient education during inpatient stays and at discharge, following prescribed teaching plans.
• Responding effectively to communications from patients, families, and colleagues.

Ethics

• Making decisions and actions on behalf of patients in an ethical manner.
• Demonstrating sensitivity to the values of self and others.
• Involving patients and families in the care plan, incorporating their cultural, spiritual, and belief systems.
