Job Description

• Deliver respiratory care procedures in various settings including general, acute, critical care, and emergency areas.
• Perform therapeutic modalities such as patient monitoring, medication delivery, ventilation management, expansion therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
• Conduct diagnostic testing including ABGs, PFTs, EKGs, cardiac assessments, bronchoscopy, and pulse oximetry.
• Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care, providing airway maintenance and management.
• Respond to patient needs promptly and effectively.
• Provide education and teaching to patients and their families.
• Transport patients within the hospital or between facilities.
• Develop care plans based on thorough assessments and physician orders.
• Document all patient care activities, including evaluations, progress notes, and treatment records.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians regarding respiratory therapy services.
• Solve technical and interpersonal problems related to patient care.
• Ensure proper functioning of all equipment and intervene as necessary.
• Recognize and assist in identifying patient complications related to respiratory care.
• Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements.
• Adapt to changing technologies, policies, and staffing needs.
• Participate in professional development and training of staff and students.

Additional Information

• Experience Required: 1 year of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
• EMR Experience: Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
• Float Requirements: May be required to float to any CommonSpirit location within 60 miles of the original assignment. Float assignments may include duties outside of original job requirements in accordance with policy.
