Job Description
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent quality care to patients in the Cancer Center at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver patient care using the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking in management.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans and health promotion.
Patient Experience
- Model the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Initiate service recovery for patients with concerns.
Quality and Safety
- Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.
- Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with management to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
- Document care accurately in compliance with standards.
Professional Development
- Support clinical colleagues and contribute to a positive care environment.
- Advance clinical competence and participate in shared decision-making.
Required Skills
- New York State RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including medicine and chemotherapy
- Experience with EPIC preferred
- Average Unit Census: 35.1 patients
- Unit Capacity: 36 beds
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts
