Position Details

Job Description

The Pediatric Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing safe, competent, and quality care to pediatric patients and their families. Key responsibilities include:

Patient Care

  • Deliver patient care using the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practices.
  • Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking in patient management.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.

Patient Experience

  • Model the tenets of Relationship Centered Care.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Address patient concerns and initiate service recovery as needed.
  • Conduct purposeful rounding to enhance patient experience.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and nursing research.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement evidence-based practices and ensure compliance with safety measures.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must be a licensed registered nurse in New York State.
  • Experience: Relevant clinical competence in pediatric nursing; pediatric experience is required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team and solve problems.
    • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
    • Physical and mental health necessary to care for acutely ill patients.
    • Manual dexterity for clinical procedures (e.g., venipuncture, CPR).
    • Proficient in electronic medical record documentation.

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required.
