Job Description

• Utilize the nursing process in the provision of direct patient care.
• Responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating care for assigned patients.
• Delivery of care is based on established standards and practices.
• Diagnose and treat health problems through case finding, health teaching, counseling, and provision of supportive or restorative care.
• Supervise care provided by LPNs, RNPs, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assess patient care needs and develop comprehensive care plans.
2. Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and medical regimen.
3. Oversee and ensure the provision of all aspects of patient care.
4. Document and communicate patient responses to illness and treatment.
5. Coordinate the overall plan of care with the multidisciplinary team.
6. Accept responsibility for nursing interventions and outcomes.
7. Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care.
8. Communicate effectively and manage stressful situations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in the orientation of nursing staff.
• Assume charge responsibilities as delegated.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
• Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and educational programs.
• Engage in research and pilot projects supported by the Nursing Department.
• Pursue continuing professional growth and education.

Experience and Skills

• Experience: No experience required, some preferred.
• Skills: Good interpersonal skills; ability to utilize electronic record systems and relevant healthcare equipment.

• 89 days
