Job Description
The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for:
- Coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care and patient/family education.
- Supporting professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care.
- Functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.
- Planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
- Providing leadership through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts.
- Delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource adequacy.
- Possessing excellent communication skills and engaging in mentoring and teaching.
Minimum Education Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program recognized by ACEN or CCNE.
- If graduated from a non-accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting within the last five years is required.
- If graduation occurred more than two years ago, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required.
- Current RN license as per state requirements.
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required for Midwest healthcare providers, must not expire within three months after the start date.
