Job Description

The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for:

Coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care and patient/family education.
Supporting professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care.
Functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.
Planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
Providing leadership through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts.
Delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource adequacy.
Possessing excellent communication skills and engaging in mentoring and teaching.

Minimum Education Requirements

Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program recognized by ACEN or CCNE.
If graduated from a non-accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting within the last five years is required.
If graduation occurred more than two years ago, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required.
Current RN license as per state requirements.

Certifications Required

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required for Midwest healthcare providers, must not expire within three months after the start date.
