Job Description

The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for:

  • Coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care and patient/family education.
  • Supporting professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care.
  • Planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Providing leadership through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource adequacy.
  • Possessing excellent communication skills and engaging in mentoring and teaching.

Minimum Education and Requirements

  • Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program recognized by ACEN or CCNE.
    • If not graduated from an accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting within the last 5 years is required.
    • If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required.
  • Licensure: Current RN license as per state requirements.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) competency for Arizona and Florida.
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required for the Midwest, which must not expire within 3 months after the start date.
    • Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
