Job Summary

The CT technologist will be responsible for demonstrating professionalism and service excellence while performing the following tasks:

  • Obtain necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols.
  • Maintain sterility of the field and instruments.
  • Prepare requisitions correctly.
  • Communicate with patients and their families before, during, and after procedures to alleviate anxiety while maintaining privacy and dignity.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and respect patient privacy.
  • Verify patient identification according to AHS policy.
  • Observe patients’ conditions before and after contrast injections and report any sudden changes to nursing staff and radiologists.
  • Ensure availability of medical records, previous reports, labs, and patient history.
  • Begin emergency response in case of complications.
  • Maintain adequate linen, contrast media, and biopsy/drainage supplies in each scanning room.
  • Participate in daily inventory and stocking of supplies.
  • Notify Lead of expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications.
  • Clean and inventory supplies, and participate in routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table, and peripheral equipment after each use.

Responsibilities

  • Triage procedures according to the daily schedule when assigned as Point.
  • Ensure timely coordination of all emergency and unscheduled procedure requests.
  • Assign staff to ensure efficient workflow while maintaining patient safety.
  • Communicate with all departments regarding patient status.
  • Ensure immediate patient transport post-procedure.
  • Assess patient ability to tolerate contrast and screen for allergies/medication incompatibilities.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the working area.
  • Notify Coordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain QA/QC requirements for daily, monthly, and ACR specifications.
  • Recognize unusual conditions in the operation of equipment and alert appropriate personnel.
  • Adhere to venipuncture and power injector protocols.
  • Notify the radiologist of any unusual findings to provide optimal patient care.
