Description
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent quality care to patients in the Cancer Center at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver patient care using the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans and health promotion.
Patient Experience
- Model the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns.
Quality and Safety
- Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with teams to implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.
- Escalate potential safety hazards following institutional protocols.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with management to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
- Document nursing practice accurately and thoroughly.
Professional Development
- Support clinical colleagues and advance clinical competence.
- Encourage lifelong learning and innovation in nursing practice.
- Participate in shared decision-making through committees and councils.
Required Skills
- New York State RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including medicine and chemotherapy
- Travel experience preferred for travel positions
- EPIC experience highly preferred

- Number of Beds per Unit: 36
- Schedule: 3x12 hours
