- Job Summary: The Nuclear Medicine /Radiologic Technologist participates in activities which assures quality patient care.
- Essential Functions: Perform radiographic exams that utilize ionizing radiation while providing protection for all patients using ALARA principles, as well as supervising staff technologists in the correct use of radiation producing equipment.
- Perform invasive procedures and exams requiring the use of contrast agents, both oral and intravenous injection (venipuncture), under the direct supervision of a radiologist, as well as supervising staff technologists in the correct performance of these duties.
- Participates in performance improvement activities in the Radiology Department.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities within the hospital or in the Radiology Department.
- Adheres to principles of infection control in performing direct patient care.
- Performs safety/control checks on department equipment as per department standards.
- Demonstrates proper application of medication administration principles.
- Provides protection of the patient via proper lead shielding, confidentiality, railing etc.
- Wears radiation film badge all the time while in work status.
- Explains procedures to patients and ensures that the proper consent forms are signed.
- Provides age-appropriate care, as evidenced by completion of age-specific competency checklist.
