Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (SICU)
Location
- City: Washington, DC

Employment Details
- Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3 or 4 x 12 hours (Day/Night) from 0700-1930/1900-0730
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend required; holiday coverage as needed
- On Call Requirements: No call requirements
- Float Requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity
Job Description
- Position for a Registered Nurse in the SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit).
- Experience in a teaching hospital is preferred.
Requirements
- Licensure:
- DC RN licensure required (Pending DC license accepted but must have license prior to start date).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in SICU.
- At least 1 prior travel assignment completed (first-time travelers will be screened).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Certification
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with pulmonary artery lines, IV starts, and phlebotomy.
- Neuro ICU certification preferred.
- Special Equipment Knowledge:
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), Bolt, and EVD (External Ventricular Drain).

Health and Safety Requirements
- Flu Vaccine: Required for all employees.
- Physical Exam: Annual physical stating the candidate is able to perform work without accommodations and is free from communicable disease.
- Vaccinations:
- COVID-19 Vaccine (Dose 1 and 2 if applicable)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years recommended for positions with exposure to children and infants.
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray required.
- Drug Screen: Required within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana).
Additional Information
- Background Check: Required within 90 days of start, including criminal background check and education verification.
- References: Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment.
- Work History Verification: Minimum of two years of experience required, with at least one travel assignment completed.
