Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (SICU)
Location
- City: Washington, DC
- Facility: Medstar Washington Hospital Center

Employment Details
- Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3 or 4 x 12 hours (Day/Night) from 0700-1930/1900-0730
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend required; holiday coverage as needed
- On Call Requirements: No call requirements
- Float Requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity
Job Description
- Position: 4G SICU RN
- Staffed Beds: 748
- Charting System: Cerner
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Scrubs: Not provided; required color: ceil blue
Requirements
- Licensure: DC RN licensure (Pending DC license accepted but must have license prior to start date)
- Experience:
- 2 years of experience in SICU (Teaching Hospital experience preferred)
- 1 prior travel assignment completed (first-time travelers will be screened)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Certification
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with pulmonary artery lines, IV starts, and phlebotomy
- Neuro ICU certification preferred
- Special Equipment Experience: CRRT, Bolt, and EVD
Additional Information
- Vaccination Requirements:
- Flu vaccine required for all employees
- COVID-19 vaccination required (with exemptions subject to approval)
- Health Documents:
- Annual physical exam
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start
- TB testing (IGRA or PPD)
- Vaccination records for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tdap
- Background Check: Required within 90 days of start, including criminal background and education verification
- References: Two positive supervisory references required
This position offers an opportunity to work in a top 50 heart and vascular center in a teaching hospital environment. Candidates should be prepared to meet the licensure and certification requirements prior to starting.
