Position Details

Requirements

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required from AHA
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required from AHA
• RN License in the state of employment or compact

Experience

• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred

Education

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred

Work Schedule

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 5-6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
• On Call Requirement: No on-call required, but willing to pick up shifts if desired

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

   • Critical thinking to assess patient needs.
   • Develop and modify care plans based on evidence-based practice.
   • Monitor and document treatment progression.

2. Patient Throughput & Flow Process:

   • Anticipate and plan for admission/discharge/transfer needs.
   • Facilitate the discharge process using appropriate communication tools.

3. Unit Operations:

   • Plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care during assigned shifts.
   • Assess staffing needs and participate in resource management.

4. Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations:

   • Incorporate patient safety practices to promote positive outcomes.
   • Ensure compliance with healthcare-related laws and regulations.

Technical Competencies

• Clinical Policies and Standards: Follow and analyze clinical procedures for compliance.
• Health Information Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Medical Equipment: Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment.
• Medical Order Processing: Process and validate medical orders accurately.
• Patient Chart Reading and Interpretation: Review and interpret patient charts for accuracy.

Additional Information

• Floating may be required if placed on call due to low census.
• Must be able to perform unit-specific competencies based on patient care needs.
