- Shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM, every other weekend
Job Description
The RN ICU position involves caring for patients in a Medical ICU with a focus on heavy respiratory, renal, and cardiac cases. The unit is welcoming to new travelers, and senior nurses are available to precept new graduates in the resident program.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 2 years of acute care RN experience
- Education:
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH (National Institutes of Health) certification
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to read telemetry strips
- Airway management (Bipap, Airvo, Vent management)
- Titration of vasoactive/cardiac/sedation drips
- EKG interpretation
- Care of arterial lines, central lines, and femoral lines
- IV insertion and blood draws
- Cardioversion/defibrillation
- Procedural sedation
- Management of ventilators and tracheostomy care
- Use of common equipment such as Vent, CRRT NxStage, Echo, Artic Sun, EV1000, and PCA pumps
Common Medications Administered
- Propofol, Precedex, Fentanyl, Cardizem, Digoxin, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Amiodarone, Norepinephrine, Vasopressin, Epinephrine, Phenylephrine
Additional Information
- Patient Population: Medical ICU with a focus on respiratory, renal, and cardiac patients.
- Support Structure: Clinical Resource Nurse available per shift to oversee admissions, discharges, and respond to emergencies.
Credentialing Requirements
- Current BLS card
- Nursys Report (preferably with a Compact Nursing License)
- License/Certificate Verification
- COVID-19 vaccination (with options for medical or religious exemptions)
- Documentation of immunizations (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza)
- TB testing (2 negative tests required)
- Physical/Health Statement confirming capability to perform job functions
- Background checks and employment verification
