Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location

  • City: Madison, Wisconsin
  • Facility: UW Health University Hospital
  • Hospital System: Long Island Community Hospital

Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: Every other weekend, 1900-0730

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in a 29-bed unit specializing in acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities and hemodynamic instability.
  • Care for specialty populations including patients with Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant.

Patient Ratios

  • General Care: 1:4
  • Intermediate Care: 1:2

Requirements

Experience

  • Must have at least two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty of Registered Nursing.
  • Experience in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or a similar size hospital is required.

Licensure and Certification

  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin nursing license or a compact license from the permanent address state.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience is required; candidates must pass a telemetry test prior to starting.

Additional Requirements

  • Permanent address must be within 50 miles of the assigned work site.
  • Travelers may float to other units based on staffing needs.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Background Check: Required within 90 days prior to start.
  • Health Documents: Various health documents including TB tests, immunizations, and drug screening are required.
  • Certifications: Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and competency exams may be required based on unit description.
