Job Description

• Position: Stepdown/MST RN (Hybrid Unit)
• Eligibility: Traveler's permanent address must be greater than 100 miles from OhioHealth Grant, Columbus, Ohio.

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Large hospital experience strongly preferred.
  • Will consider candidates with 1 year of experience.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be able to read & interpret telemetry independently.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for specific roles.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for specific roles.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for specific roles.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Strongly preferred for ER.
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required for L&D.
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - Required for Oncology RNs.
• State License:

  • Must have a valid Ohio state license for nursing.
• Background Check:

  • 7-year background check required.

Unit Details

• Size: 1,059 bed Level II trauma and magnet hospital.
• Unit: 40 bed hybrid unit, with floating to med/surg or intermediate units (if qualified).
• Patient Ratios: 1:3-6, acuity dependent and flexible.
• Patient Types: Can take telemetry trained nurses, including intermediate patients such as trach-ventilated patients.

Additional Information

• Time Off: Will consider up to two weeks of RTO (Request Time Off).
• Documentation:

  • Various health documents and certifications are required prior to start.
  • Onsite fingerprinting may be required for certain positions.

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Must be completed within 1 year of start.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for all RNs and LPNs, with specific exemptions.

Health Requirements

• Physical Exam: Must be performed by an MD, RN, DO, NP, or PA within 2 years of start.
• Vaccinations:

  • TDAP vaccine required for specific units.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray required.
  • Flu vaccine required by specified deadlines.
