Job Details
- Location: Washington, District Of Columbia
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 Nights (1900-0730)
- Weekend Requirement: 50% weekends required; no on-call requirement
- Float Requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.
Patient Diagnoses
- Orthopedics: Primary total joint (hip and knee) replacement, revision of total joint replacement, spine surgery, ankle replacement, total shoulder replacement
- Limb Salvage: Diabetic wounds, venous/arterial stasis wounds, surgical debridement, amputations
- Urology: Prostatectomy, nephrectomy, stent placement
- Other: Mostly surgical patients with various comorbidities.
Requirements
- Licensure: DC RN Licensure (must be in hand at time of submittal; pending licensure will not be accepted)
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, including IV start; at least 1 travel contract completed required if less than 4 years of experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- BSN preferred
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Health Documents
- Flu Vaccination: Required
- Physical Exam: Annual physical stating candidate is able to perform work without accommodations and is free from communicable disease.
- TB Testing: IGRA (T-spot, Quantiferon Gold) or PPD Skin Test required annually.
- Vaccinations:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years recommended for positions with exposure to children and infants.
- Hepatitis B Titer, Series (3), or Signed Declination.
- Varicella Vaccines or Positive Titer.
Background and History Checks
- Criminal Background Check: Required within 90 days of start.
- References: Two positive supervisory references, including one from the most recent assignment, must support at least two years of experience in the previous 3 years.
- Work History Verification: Minimum of two years of the past seven years of employment required.
Additional Information
- Scrubs: Any color without hospital logos; not provided by unit.
- Drug Testing: Required within 90 days of start, excluding marijuana.
- Competency Exams: Various competency exams may be required based on unit and role.
