Position Details

- Employment Type: Contract Clinician
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- General Duties:
- Care of OB triage, labor & delivery, postpartum, well-newborn, and special care nursery (including IV, antibiotics, short-term respiratory support – CPAP or O2) and GYN surgical patients.
- Equipment Utilized:
- EPIC computer charting
- OBIX with central monitoring for fetal monitor strips
- Acudose medication dispensing cabinet
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum Experience: 2 years
- Interpretation of fetal monitor strips
- Attendance at vaginal delivery
- Immediate care and resuscitation of newborns
Licensure and Certifications
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Licensure: Active Minnesota License
Shift and Schedule Requirements
- Staffing: 2 OB trained staff in-house at all times
- Shifts: 8 or 12-hour weekday shifts
- Weekend Requirements: Required to work 2 out of 3 weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday, 7 AM - 7:30 PM or 7 PM - 7:30 AM)
Unit Information
- Department: Primarily in Women’s Center; may float to General Medical unit if census is low in OB
- Bed Size: 12 bed unit (2 triage, 5 labor & delivery, 5 overflow postpartum/GYN surgical)
- Nurse to Patient Ratio:
- 1:2-3 mom/baby couplets
- 1:2 early labor
- 1:1 active labor
- 1:3 post-op
Dress Code
- Hospital washed scrubs provided
Orientation and Training
- New hire safety program checklist, including emergency management cases
- Competency skills for equipment
- One Chart training
- 2-3 days total orientation to the unit, depending on experience
Additional Information
- Experience with unstable newborns, labor and delivery, postpartum, and well-nursery care is preferred.
- Candidates must provide proof of active certifications and licensure.
