Job Description

Required Skills/Certifications/Experience

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years OR 1 year with travel experience
  • Traveler Experience: Not required; unit accepts first-time travelers.
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Skills Required:
    • MS/telemetry experience required
    • Telemetry experience preferred
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Use of rapid response teams
    • Blood product administration
    • Central line care/management
    • Peripheral line care/management
    • Nasal cannula
    • Non-invasive airway management
    • Isolation precautions
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIH (National Institutes of Health)

Job Details

  • Target Ratios: 1:6-7
  • Shift: 4x12hr NIGHTS (18:45-07:15) Fri-Mon schedule
  • Hours Offered: Only 48 hours can be offered; no overtime billed until after 48 hours.
  • Float Requirement: May float to sister unit with ER holding coverage.
  • Patient Diagnoses: General surgery and medical telemetry patients with various diagnoses requiring medical intervention or surgical procedures.

Special Procedures/Unit Details

  • Unit Focus: General Surgery, Surgical procedures
  • Special Equipment: None specified
  • Unit Systems: Pyxis, EPIC (preferred)
  • Unit Orientation: 36 hours; hospital orientation in the first week.

  • Scrubs: Navy Blue
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Color Blind Testing
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam

    • Physical Exam
    • Fit Mask
    • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray

    • Vaccination documentation (Flu, COVID-19, etc.)

Background and History Checks

  • Background Check: Required within 90 days of start
  • References: Required as applicable

Education and Certifications

  • Education Verification: Required for highest degree earned
  • State Specific Searches: Required for North Carolina Healthcare Registry and Division of Medical Assistance
