Position Details

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide both routine and complex care in a clinical setting, demonstrating independence and awareness of relevant aspects of patient care. Responsibilities include:

• Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) for assigned patients.
• Addressing complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administering medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documenting patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Educating patients, family members, and caregivers on care and resources.

1. Nursing Process:

   • Critical thinking to assess patient needs.
   • Development and modification of care plans based on evidence-based practice.
   • Implementation and documentation of patient care and treatment.

2. Patient Throughput & Flow:

   • Anticipating and planning for admission, discharge, and transfer needs.
   • Facilitating communication for the discharge process.

   • Planning and evaluating nursing care during assigned shifts.
   • Assessing staffing needs and participating in resource efforts.

   • Incorporating patient safety practices to promote positive outcomes.
   • Accountability for nursing research and quality improvement.

Technical Competencies

• Clinical Policies and Standards: Compliance with clinical procedures and standards.
• Health Information Documentation: Maintaining accurate patient records.
• Medical Equipment: Knowledge of basic medical equipment and ensuring safety.
• Medical Order Processing: Experience with processing medical orders.
• Patient Chart Reading and Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret patient charts accurately.
• Patient Safety: Ensuring safety for patients and addressing potential risks.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Experience: 1 year in related nursing specialty (preferred).
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • RN License in the state of employment or compact.
