Position Details

• Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Job Description

The RNFA is a perioperative RN who collaborates with the surgeon and healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The RNFA must possess the necessary knowledge, judgment, and skills specific to the expanded role of RNFA clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage surgical patient care delivery using the nursing process.
• Complete and document patient assessments and reassessments.
• Create and maintain a sterile field and monitor the surgical team.
• Perform hand washing techniques and maintain aseptic practices.
• Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment and supplies.
• Conduct sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
• Administer and document medications according to policy.
• Participate in patient and family teaching.
• Handle specimens accurately and participate in the Universal Protocol/Time-Out process.
• Maintain safety protocols with high-risk equipment.

Requirements

Experience

• At least 5 years of OR experience, including both scrubbing and circulating.
• Previous OR experience required for members of the CV team.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN License in the state of employment or compact.
• BLS Certification.
• ACLS Certification.
• CRNFA Certification.

Education

• Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards and is accepted by the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI).
