Job Description

The Cytotechnologist will microscopically examine a variety of complex cellular body specimens to identify abnormal changes in cells that may indicate inflammatory, premalignant, malignant, or other changes. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, precision, and timeliness.

Shift Details

• Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
• Weekends: Occasional based on volume
• On-Call: No
• Holidays: No

Minimum Requirements

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cytotechnology, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science
  • Certification as a CT (ASCP), scat (ASCP), or CT (CMIAC)
  • OR Bachelor of Science in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science and a graduate of a CAHEA approved school of Cytotechnology
• Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting
  • High volume lab experience
  • Hologic/ThinPrep experience; must be Hologic imager trained and able to show certificate of training

Additional Information

Required Certifications

• ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA, ARC, or Military)
• BLS: Basic Life Support (AHA preferred)
• PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (if applicable)
• NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (if applicable)
• CHEMO: Chemotherapy certification (for Oncology RNs)
• TNCC: Trauma Nursing Core Course (preferred for ER)
• EFM: Electronic Fetal Monitoring (required for L&D)

Health Documents

• Physical Exam: Must be performed by an MD, RN, DO, NP, or PA within 2 years of start.
• TB Testing: 2 PPDs, QGold, TSpot, or MTB required within 6 months of start.
• Vaccinations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for specific units)
  • Flu vaccine (required for the 2024-2025 season)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination required)

Background Checks

• 7-Year Background Check: Must include SS trace, county searches, nationwide criminal search, and sanctions screening.
