Job Overview for Healthcare Recruiters and Workers

Position Details

  • Specialty: RN
  • Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
  • Facility: Catholic Medical Center (part of HCA Healthcare)
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Unit: Emergency Department
  • Number of Beds:
    • 4 in Annex (secure psychiatric area)
    • 25 procedure rooms
    • 8 hallway beds (utilized 24/7)
  • Staffing:
    • Total Staff: 88
    • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 7 RNs, 3 ED Techs, 2 RPs
    • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 2 ED Techs, 1 RP
  • Patient Ratios: 4:1 (flexible during acute surges)
  • Equipment: U/S IV skills, Lucas Device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, Pyxis
  • EMR: Sunrise/Allscripts
  • Patient Population: Patients with multiple comorbidities, including complicated heart conditions, DKA, Sepsis, Trauma, and Stroke.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Must-Have Skills:

  • At least 2 years of Emergency Department experience
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, MOAB, TNCC
  • Strong communication and assessment skills
  • Dependability and punctuality
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of medical terminology

Preferred Skills:

  • At least 1 year of ED experience for HCA hired staff
  • Strong understanding of EKG interpretation

Weekend and On-Call Requirements

  • Every other weekend for contract labor
  • Every third weekend for HCA hired staff

Unit Guidelines

  • RNs work with policy-written protocols based on chief complaints and can order complete workups for labs, EKGs, x-rays, and medications.
