Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Oncology Program

Location

Job Description

  • Title: Cross Train to Oncology Program
  • Contract Duration: 26 to 39 weeks with potential for a permanent role.
  • Work Schedule:
    • Regular shifts of 36 to 40 hours per week during orientation, then 36 shifts afterward.
    • Rotating day and night shifts every 4 weeks.
    • Mandatory availability for alternating weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 1 year of experience required in PCU/Stepdown; oncology experience preferred but not required (training provided).
  • Certifications:
    • BCLS and ACLS certifications required.
    • Familiarity with Pyxis medication system required.
    • EPIC charting experience required.
  • First-time travelers accepted.

Required Skills

  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
  • Knowledge of Rapid Response Teams.
  • Competency in gastrointestinal care.
  • Proficient in feeding tube care and management.
  • Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy.
  • Previous experience with blood product administration.
  • Understanding of peripheral line care and management.
  • Proficiency in starting IVs.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in oncology, specifically in inpatient oncology and/or outpatient chemo infusion center.

  • Health Documents:

    • Physical Exam
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray
    • TB Questionnaire
    • MMR Vaccines or Positive Titer
    • Hepatitis B Titer or 3-Vaccine Series
    • Varicella Vaccines or Positive Titer
    • Drug Testing
    • Flu Seasonal Vaccination/Documentation
    • COVID-19 Vaccination (recommended)
  • Background Check:

    • 7-Year Criminal Background Check
    • Fingerprinting (BCI & FBI)
  • Certifications:

    • Various certifications required based on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, BLS, PALS).
  • References:

    • 2 professional references required, including at least 1 from a manager/director.
