Job requirements

Required Certifications: BLS
Skills required: Basic MS skills, wound care, wound vacs, neuro checks, trach management (T-mist mask), incision care, chest tubes, drain/tube management, BiPap, HFNC, post-surgical recovery, telemetry, IV insertion/maintenance, competent with titratable drips (ex. insulin, heparin, morphine, cartizem)

Schedule information

Weekend rotation: Every other
6-week schedule
No self-scheduling
Shift time: Day: 0700-1930; PM: 11:00-2330; Night: 1900-0730
RTO: Able to approve up to 7 days
No On Call
Holiday Expectations: 1
Fatigue policy: All staff, including travelers, cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12 hour shifts

Unit specific information

Charge nurse: Full patient assignment
Unit secretary: 24/7
Hospitalist: 24/7
RT: 24/7
Centralized telemetry monitoring, with tele tech
Phlebotomy to assist with peripheral blood draws
Orientation: 1 shift of training on the unit

Additional Details

Scrub Color: Any color (no camo, denim, hoodies)
Must document pain level: before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications
Parking: Free
24/7 security if needed to be walked to and from parking lots
Shuttle services for the winter
Culture: Team-work environment, various ranges of MS experience (new grads- 5 years), friendly, supportive, helpful
