Certification details

CST Certification (NBSTA or NCCT) required for MA locations
Preferred for NH
COVID-19 vaccination series by FDA or WHO approved is mandatory with no exemptions
Documentation of MMR and TB tests within the required timeframe
Influenza vaccine required during flu season with no exemptions
Various health and background checks mandated before and throughout employment

Job details

Central Sterile Technician position available in Newton, Massachusetts
Part of the Mass General Brigham health system at Newton-Wellesley Hospital
Employment type is Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
The role involves a 40-hour workweek with 5x 8-hour shifts from 3pm to 11:30pm
Rotating weekends and holidays as needed
On call duties are also part of the job
Perform various duties in the assembly, sterilization, and processing of surgical instrumentation

Job requirements

Perform disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments
Leak test, evaluate, clean/disinfect, and process flexible endoscopes
Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality
Assemble surgical kits, package, and prepare for sterilization
Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and keep proper documentation
Respond to emergency requirements effectively
Assess and request replacements for instruments and supplies timely
Stock adult, pediatric, and neonate code carts, and intubation boxes
Function independently in the absence of Manager or Supervisor
Utilize computer systems, knowledge of EPIC and CSIQ/SPM preferred
Assist in training of new staff and volunteers
Rotate between main SPD, GI, OSC departments as needed

Schedule information

5x 8-hour shifts, 3pm to 11:30pm, including rotating weekends and holidays
Part-time on-call responsibilities

Additional Details

Strong preference for existing knowledge in EPIC and CSIQ/SPM
