Performs routine laboratory testing/analysis for diagnostic purposes, under the direct supervision of a medical technologist.

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

 ·     Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

·     Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.

·     Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes.

·     Demonstrates knowledge of expected lab results for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.

·     Performs clerical, general, and phlebotomy duties related to daily operations in the laboratory.

·     Operates and maintains laboratory equipment correctly and safely, including calibration of instruments.

·     Responsible for adequately stocked and organized inventory of reagents and supplies in the laboratory.  Reports needed supplies to Manager/Director.

·     Performs maintenance on laboratory equipment, per manufactures required timeframes, as is consistent with all standard laboratory protocols across the industry.

·     Maintains accurate and continued documentation. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
