Job Summary: Performs radiologic treatments for patients.Responsible for pre-treatment services and delivery of radiologic treatment.
Primary Responsibilities: Treatment of patients:-Arrange treatment appointments.-Deliver radiation to patients in accordance with physician’s instructions.-Operate all types of radiotherapy equipment, i.e., Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc.
Pre-Treatment Preparation:-Operate simulator for localization of tumor size and position.-Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans.-Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.-Take photographs of patients for portal verifications, etc.
Patient Care Activities:-Recognize all types of radiation reactions and provides the proper care and instructions to patients.-Educate patients with respect to radiation therapy reactions and also life style modifications.-Instruct incoming Residents and technologists in the use of equipment.-Prepare cerrobend alloy blocks. Fabricate plastic holders for blocks.-Construct and fabricate patient immobilization devices.-Take and develop radiographs.-Maintain patient management room neat and orderly.-Coordinate department with inpatient activities to provide proper patient care. When necessary, transports inpatients.-Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment. -Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:-Knowledge of radiologic equipment in use at BHMC.-Good patient interpersonal skills.-Ability to read and speak English.-Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Preferred Skills & Experience:-No prior experience required, preference for 6 months to one-year x-ray or radiologic experience.
Physical Requirements: -Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.-Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing or exerting force up to 75 pounds.
Required Education:-High School diploma or equivalent.-Graduate of accredited radiologic program.
Preferred Education:-N/A
Required Certifications & Licensure:-Current NY State License for X-Ray technology.-Certification in the operation of Radiologic equipment and treatment required.-ARRT Certification

Nicole was very helping and always proficient with reaching out and even going above and beyond when the facility itself was slacking. When the facility canceled all contracts the day before start date she found me another position within the same week. I would recommend her 10x over.
