Description
1. General job duties / types of procedures required:
- Initiates assessment and reassessment based on the patient’s presenting problems/needs in accordance with GIRMC procedures.
- Synthesizes pertinent initial and ongoing patient data to identify nursing priorities for care and desired outcomes/goals.
- Integrates the patient’s plan of care based on the diagnosis and age-specific needs.
- Identifies individual patient safety needs, i.e. patient identification and confirmation of knowledge of surgical procedure, aseptic technique, appropriate positioning, accurate surgical counts, and availability of equipment and knowledge of appropriate use.
- Executes therapeutic and/or supportive interventions, consistent with perioperative procedures.
- Provides education for the patient and family to meet identified patient needs.
- Evaluates the patient’s response to and effectiveness of interventions.
- Evaluates patient’s progress toward established outcomes.
- Incorporates cultural considerations into the plan/delivery of care.
- Documents patient care and related information according to Grand Island Regional Medical Center procedures for documentation.
- Coordinates and provides care in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Facilitates patient’s transition to the next level of care.
- Assumes responsibility in a shared or delegated assignment and supports team member’s practices through timely communication.
- Serves as a role model to colleagues, students, and other care providers.
- Actively participates in continued learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work unit and duties of the job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Provides expert level of guidance in patient care for other team members.

- Non-invasive ventilation

3. Required skills, minimum years of experience, and/or education:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience
4. Required licensures, certificates/registrations, and/or life support certifications:
- State of Nebraska (or multistate) RN license
- BLS – AHA/ARC
- ACLS – AHA/ARC
- PALS – AHA
5. Shift or schedule requirements:
- 1 / 0
- Candidate will be 1 of 2 ICU RNs on shift.
6. Floating to other units/departments:
- No
7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/department:
- This is a 32-bed acute care facility.
- We utilize up to 6 beds as ICU.
8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit (nursing only):
- 1:2 ICU
9. Dress Code:
- Pewter Grey
10. Tell us about the unit/department-specific training and orientation program:
- General orientation for travelers lasts 4 hrs.
- After that, you will shadow a floor nurse for the remainder of the afternoon.
- You will then have 1 shift of orientation with a floor staff, then be on your own.

Nicole was very helping and always proficient with reaching out and even going above and beyond when the facility itself was slacking. When the facility canceled all contracts the day before start date she found me another position within the same week. I would recommend her 10x over.
