Description
Cardiac Stepdown RN
3x12 nights
Blocked scheduling is an option!
5 North/Step-down is a 20-bed (all private room) unit. We strive for a 4:1 ratio but can have a 5:1 ratio, depending on our staffing situation. We have a mixture of pulmonary (pneumonia, COPD, BiPAP/cpap, etc.), cardiac (a-fib, heart failure, etc.), neuro (stroke), GI (bleed), and surgery patients who are stable with a higher risk of becoming unstable. Our unit is equipped to house 20 stepdown patients at one time, however, all patients do not have to be step-down in order to be on our unit. We accept patients who do not require invasive monitoring. There may be a combination of adult med-surg, telemetry, and step-down patients at any given time, based upon bed availability house wide. Examples of critical drips we can administer to our step-down patients: Amiodarone, Esmolol, Insulin, Lasix, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin.
BLS and ACLS required
1+ year experience required
Hospital Highlights
Type of Facility: Short Term Acute Care. Major Teaching Hospital; member of the Council of Teaching
Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH). Level II Trauma.

Scrub Color: Black Scrubs (can also wear a Cabell T-Shirt instead of scrub top) If/When they report to Surgery they must change into Surgery scrubs (provided)
Charting: Cerner
Parking Cost: Free for travelers - parking lot and parking garage available

Pros
Nicole was very helping and always proficient with reaching out and even going above and beyond when the facility itself was slacking. When the facility canceled all contracts the day before start date she found me another position within the same week. I would recommend her 10x over.
