Description

null Department: Chemo/Infusion | RN *Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Biotherapy certification- Not ONCC or ONS.* - # beds/Chairs: 10 chemo chairs, 6 infusion/Iron chairs. - Average # of patients/day: 30-35 iron infusions per day (1 about every 30 minutes), 12-19 chemo infusions per day. - Nurse: Patient Ratios: 6 RNs on at a time. 4 to be Chemo certified. 2 do not need to be certified (will do Iron and other infusions). RNs average 6 patients throughout the day. - Required Certifications: BLS ACLS. Biotherapy certification- Not ONCC or ONS. - Common diagnosis: Cancer, rheumatology, immune disease conditions, hydration, CKD, etc. - Experience: Chemotherapy infusion experience, at least 1 year. IV starts, central line dressing changes & accessing. On time- punctuality. Open to first time travelers. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: None - Common infusions: Chemotherapy, blood products, iron, hydration, biologics, GI, Rheumatology infusions, & the rest is various infusions. - Job duties: IV starts, accessing central lines, central line dressing changes, infusions, therapeutic phlebotomy (blood letting). Lab draws- central lines, PCT and lab to assist as well. - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift?: Charge Nurse- does take a full assignment (trying to get him to take less). - Patient care techs on this unit: PCT to do patient intake, VS and phlebotomy assist, among other PCT general duties. - EMR: AllScripts - Shifts & Scheduling: 10 hour shifts. 8a-630p 4 days a week, self schedule the one day off and manager to balance. - Weekend Requirement: None - Holiday Requirement: None - Is there a call or standby requirement?: None - Floating Requirements: None - Scrub Color: Royal Blue - Unit/department specific orientation: General facility orientation, and 2 weeks with the educator/ preceptors, and ongoing education to new drugs/reps that come in. Nicole was very helping and always proficient with reaching out and even going above and beyond when the facility itself was slacking. When the facility canceled all contracts the day before start date she found me another position within the same week. I would recommend her 10x over.
