Psych Nurses needed for immediate starts for a Behavioral Health and Addiction treatment facility in Southeastern Pennsylvania for 13-26 week travel assignments. Three 12-hour shifts per week. Candidates will need at least 1 year of experience in Med Surg experience with Behavioral Health/Mental experience required. BLS and an active PA license is required. START DATE: 7/29 Shift is Days Mon-Fri 8 hr days with potential of having 10 hr days due to it getting busy in the afternoon. initial Covid vaccination required as well as 2 boosters- medical exemption only considered for severe reaction MUST HAVE RECENT ACUTE PSYCH HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE TO SUBMIT 6.24.24 1. Would prefer the nurse to have manager experience 2+ years but will take someone who has a lot of experience in psych and has knowledge of all units at the facility. 2. Would like someone who is somewhat local to possibly convert from a temp to perm position. 3. Need to have knowledge, experience and be comfortable with ALL psych units. 4. Major need to be on the floor, helping staff, guiding them to keep their prioritization in line and letting them know they are there for them and helping reinforcing standards of care. 5. Help to keep nurses focused on what their job duties are and not veering off for things that can be handled by other staff (nurse educators, counseling, and case management) 6. Need to be comfortable with PICC lines, IV’s and helping to assist and train those who feel unsure, uncomfortable, or having anxiety about making changes and taking on new job duties. 7. Have knowledge and experience with wounds (full thickness from drug abuse) and helping to assist with dressing changes. 8. Have knowledge of variety of mental health issues and know how to properly care for patients who suffer from behavior issues, addiction/wounds and who need regular counseling. 9. Help with appropriate workflows for the nurses helping them stay on task. 10. This is a boots on the ground position so they need to be ready to get busy from day 1. 11. Need someone who can handle changes in management and help nurses to adapt as well. 12. This position will be heavily on the floor assisting and being a resource vs in the office working. 13. Need to be a support to other members of the management and counseling team to make them successful. 14. Help keep nursing and management one united team. 15. Participate in daily huddles with all the units. 16. Candidate needs to be able to think on their feet, be professional and approachable and make smart decisions. Unit descriptions are below: UNITS: --- Acute Unit 1 - locked, 55 and older, coed unit, Depression, personality disorders, Schizophrenia. Medically cleared. Average stay 10-14 days. --- Acute Unit 2 - Locked, Coed, addiction and psych, medically cleared, 72 hour holds, some of these are jail or here patients for detox. 10-14 day average stay. ---Detox Unit 1- Medical assisted treatments, must be comfortable giving suboxone and methadone. less comorbidities. Average stay 5-7 days. ---Detox Unit 2 - Medical assisted treatments, must be comfortable giving suboxone and methadone. More medical comorbidities. Minimal medical needs like Diabetics, basic wound care, Cpap at night. Average stay 5-7 days. Job Duties: Admissions (no admissions over night), med pass (patients come to the desk), assessments, leading groups mainly medication education. Meals are delivered to patients by techs. RN's can assist. Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have strong communication skills with multidisciplinary teams- physicians, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers and addictions counselors. Must be comfortable with Rehab patients walking the campus. Very low violence facility. Patients must comply with rules or they are removed from the facility. Do you ever have IV's on this unit?: No Charge Nurse 24/7 & do they take patients: Nursing supervisor 24/7 – covers the entire campus – will have another supervisor for rehab eventually. Do you use physical restraints on this unit?: Yes - Will use restraints if needed. They have a restraint team – they do restraint competencies – during orientation and class room sign off. Patients are typically low violence. They act out but rarely touch staff. Noncompliant patients are removed from campus. They have a code white crisis team available. Are there nurse aids or mental health specialists on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: 1-2 Psych techs on each unit. Security 24/7 Shifts & Scheduling: 8 or 12’s hours - 12's - 6:45-7:15 - Required experience: 1 year of experience in similar setting. - Patient Populations/Common diagnoses: Large indigent population - Admissions are referred direct admits. All units are very low violence – people act out but low violence. Closest ER is 2 hours away. They call 911 if they have any medical issues. They provide BLS but that's it. Acute has 2 locked acute psych units and 2 medical detox units. They treat co-occurring, and mental health disorders.
