Description
Resource RN
Position Summary: Provides professional nursing care within the department assigned; coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs of patients, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with physicians regarding changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Essential Functions:
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient
population.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for
effectiveness.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
Follows the SIX (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level licensure.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol.
Ability to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results
Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Provides care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic status.
Provides care to patients requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte management.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and physicians.
Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures both in the PCU and other departments.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
Other duties as assigned
This is a very small unit/facility, rural experience is preferred. Must be able to work independently/Hit the ground running!

Must be willing to jump in as needed where/when needed as a "Resource!"
High proficiency in both ED and MS/PCU required
Experience with MS, ED and PCU/MS required
Must be willing to be assigned to a Unit and/or do transfers, admissions, etc.
Rural/small facility experience – Highly Preferred
COVID Vaccination required for this need
ACLS required, PALS or ENPC required within 6 months of hire

Valley Regional Hospital is a general medical and surgical 25-bed hospital located on 243 Elm Street in Claremont, New Hampshire. It was established in 1893 as Cottage Hospital. As a 25-bed, 24/7-staffed emergency department hospital, it is the only such facility in Sullivan County.
Valley Regional Hospital has served the people of Claremont and surrounding towns for more than 100 years. Evolving with the needs of its patients, the hospital has grown from its humble start as Cottage Hospital to the modern healthcare center for excellence it is today.
For more than 30 years, Valley Regional Hospital has been able to serve the needs of our community. Most recently, we have completed substantial updates in 2010, creating private patient rooms, expanding the emergency department, and improving access to services. We have focused on internal renovations and upgrades, which has been able to keep pace with the continually changing best practices of the healthcare industry.
